THEME: LEARN HUMILITY
By: Asuquo Bassey
I think it’s safe to admit here that, I need a little more of humility. For "Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life. Proverbs 22:4.
Our society today places so much value on external display of accomplishments, flamboyant appearance, and self-aggrandizement. These, our youths have come to imbibe and I fear for our end.
James admonishes thus: "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up." James 4:10. Thus, our being lifted up (in our academics, career, ministry... name it) to heights inexplicable is hinged on us BECOMING HUMBLE.
Today in Church, I learnt from the act of humility displayed by the immediate past Prelate of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria and Moderator of the General Assembly of the Churchis, His Eminence, Most Rev. Prof. E. M Uka (A person of equal status as a Pope of the Catholic church) & his dear wife as they knelt for prayers with his neatly ironed white dress before the congregation of worshippers in the PCN, Esin Ufot Efut Parish, Mayne Avenue Calabar, in front of the minister incharge the Rev. Theophilus Bassey whom he taught and
mentored!

Humility will make us believe in God more than we believe in ourselves. Humility will make us see others as more worthy than we are. Humility will make us willing to admit when we need help and open to taking instructions from others who know better than us. Humility will give us the courage to set aside personal gain and glory for the good of others and to the glory of God.
My prayer is: Father Lord our God, grant me and all who'll read this writings humility, which is the fruit of your spirit that we may obtain grace for all good things. Amen.
