*A piece to commemorate Nigeria's Independence Day*
Written By: Asuquo Bassey
.
Nigeria my Nigeria. I see you great and powerful like the horses in our symbol, the Coat of Arms. Like the eagle on it, the strength of your economy & security soaring strong and unbeatable.
.
Nigeria I envisage your abundant natural resources viable and productive, your forests providing timber with
which to build, and rich soil in which crops flourish, capable of sustaining our large and ever growing population.
.
The Nigeria I envision is an industrialized nation, with lots of oil, natural gas, and coal discovered and refined in Nigeria. Where every sector will be functional and managed by nigerian renowned for their excellent work ethic and burning desire to carve out a good life for themselves and their children. People entrusted with roles and paid tasks not based on bias, sentiments nor tribalism but professionalism. Where there will be satisfactory job for all people of working age.
.
The Nigeria I envision is a nation where there'll be sufficient food for every household and fresh water for every home. Where there will be constant power supply and all basic amenities for the wellbeing of her citizenry are provided at affordable cost for all. A Nigeria where every corner is grandeur in the scenery from mountain majesty to pounding waves. Where every eligible citizen will have the opportunity of electing a truly godly leader, a leader who will protect the independence, the freedom our national forefathers sacrificed to insure.
.
Above all, I evisage a Nigeria whose God is the Lord. For "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD..." Psalm 33:12. The Nigeria I envision is a place we will all be proud to call our own and happy to hail "God bless Nigeria". This is the Nigeria i envision.
